Introduction
Introduction
Ezoic Video lets you host and display video content on your site and earn revenue from video ads. This article explains how to add videos to Ezoic Video, get them appearing on your site, and configure where your channel is hosted. It also highlights recent Open.Video features you may want to use: a Vertical Reels Player for full‑screen, short‑form vertical video and clickable Product Stickers that place affiliate-style links on top of videos.
Instructions
Adding Videos
From your Ezoic dashboard, go to Videos and click Add Video. Videos can be added three ways:
Direct Upload
- Drag and drop or select an .MP4, .MOV, or .MKV file — the upload will begin automatically
- Add a title, description, category, and visibility setting while uploading
- Set to Private if you don’t want the video live immediately
- Add content categories and keywords to help match your video to relevant pages across the network
- Optionally add a transcript manually or let Ezoic Video generate one automatically
YouTube Import (Recommended)
- Click Add a Channel and authorize the connection via Google
- Toggle on Auto Import Videos to import all existing and future videos automatically, or select videos manually
- Titles, descriptions, and thumbnails are carried over automatically
- Only public and unlisted videos can be imported — previously imported videos will not be duplicated
MRSS Feed
- Paste your MRSS feed URL and click Save
- Ezoic Video fetches the XML file and imports media files automatically, carrying over existing metadata
Displaying Videos on Your Site
Auto-Insert (Recommended)
Auto-Insert places a video player on any page that doesn't already have a manually embedded player. It is enabled by default. To confirm it is enabled, in Ezoic Video go to Player Settings > Settings and ensure Automatically Insert Player is toggled ON.
Replace Existing YouTube Embeds
- In Ezoic Video, go to Customize Channel > YouTube Settings
- Click Link New Channel and authorize Analytics
- Toggle on Replace Embedded YouTube Videos
Note: Only videos already imported into Ezoic Video can be replaced. Ensure all relevant videos are imported before enabling this setting.
Manual Embed — Standard Player
- On the Overview tab, click Embed Video
- Copy the embed code and paste it into your site, or use the Ezoic Video WordPress plugin
Manual Embed — Specific Video
- Go to My Videos
- Hover over a video and click the < > icon to copy its embed code
- Paste into your site in the desired location
New Open.Video Player Features
- Vertical Reels Player — Open.Video now supports a vertical, full‑screen reels player for short‑form video. This player provides a mobile‑friendly, immersive viewing experience suitable for quick, swipeable video content.
- Product Stickers — Open.Video also supports clickable Product Stickers that appear on top of videos and can link to affiliate or product pages.
If your channel is hosted on Open.Video or served to your site via the Open.Video WordPress plugin or a subdomain connection, these Open.Video features can appear on videos delivered to your site. Contact support if you have questions about whether these features are available for your channel or how they behave on your pages.
Configuring Video Content Settings
Before adding videos, configure what Ezoic Video will display on your site. Navigate to Ezoic Video > Player Settings > Video Content Settings.
Choose your video source:
- My videos & 3rd party network videos (Recommended) — displays your uploaded videos alongside relevant videos from the Ezoic network, maximizing coverage and revenue
- 3rd party network videos only — displays network videos only, useful if you don't have your own video content yet
- My videos only — displays only videos you have uploaded
Choose how Ezoic matches videos to pages:
- Match video by page topic — Ezoic automatically selects videos relevant to each page's content
- Match video by category — select specific categories to match against; use the Select match categories field to define which categories apply
Optionally, add keywords to refine the video search and click Save.
Setting Up Your Channel Hosting
Once your videos are added, configure where your channel is hosted. Go to Ezoic Video > Customize Channel > Hosting.
There are two options:
Host on Open.Video
Your channel is hosted at open.video/@your-channel-name. This requires no additional setup and is available immediately. Channels hosted on Open.Video can use the Vertical Reels Player and Product Stickers provided by Open.Video.
Host on My Site (Recommended)
Your videos rank on your own domain rather than open.video, keeping traffic and authority on your site. For JS-integrated publishers there are two methods:
Use Open.Video WordPress Plugin: If your site runs WordPress, install the Open.Video WordPress plugin to connect your channel without DNS changes.
Use Subdomain via DNS CNAME: Host your channel on a subdomain of your domain (for example videos.yoursite.com) by adding CNAME records at your domain registrar. Enter your desired subdomain name in the Subdomain field, add the provided CNAME records, wait for DNS propagation, and verify the channel is Live.
Note: Open.Video features such as the Vertical Reels Player and Product Stickers are managed by Open.Video; if your channel is served via Open.Video or connected through the Open.Video plugin or subdomain method, those features can be delivered on your site. Cloud Integration appears as a hosting option but is only available to publishers on nameserver integration.
Tips and Best Practices
Leave Auto-Insert enabled.
It ensures video appears on pages without a manual player, maximizing revenue coverage across your site.
Add accurate content categories and keywords when uploading.
This improves how your videos are matched to relevant pages across the network.
Use YouTube Auto Import if you produce video regularly.
It keeps Ezoic Video in sync with your YouTube channel without manual re-uploading.
Set new uploads to Private while reviewing.
Visibility can be changed at any time from the video management dashboard.
FAQs
Do I need my own videos to use Ezoic Video?
No. If you don't have your own content, Ezoic Video can display relevant third‑party videos from the Ezoic video network. Configure this under Video Content Settings in your dashboard.
Will YouTube Auto Import bring in all past videos?
Yes. When enabled, all previously published public and unlisted videos will be imported alongside any future uploads.
What happens if I delete a video from YouTube?
Deleting a video on YouTube does not remove it from Ezoic Video. Videos must be deleted manually from the Ezoic Video dashboard.
Can I use both Auto-Insert and manual embeds simultaneously?
Yes. Auto-Insert only applies to pages without a manually embedded player. Pages with a manual embed will use that player; all other pages will use Auto-Insert.
What is the Vertical Reels Player?
The Vertical Reels Player is an Open.Video player format optimized for short‑form, vertical, full‑screen video. It delivers a mobile‑first, swipeable viewing experience for reels and other short clips.
What are Product Stickers?
Product Stickers are clickable overlays supported by Open.Video that can be placed on top of videos to link to product or affiliate pages. They appear as part of the Open.Video player experience.
How do I get the new Open.Video features on my site?
The Vertical Reels Player and Product Stickers are features of Open.Video. If your channel is hosted on Open.Video or delivered to your site via the Open.Video WordPress plugin or a connected subdomain, those features can be shown on your videos. If you need help confirming availability or behavior for your site, contact Ezoic support.
