Introduction

In order for you to earn revenue from Humix videos on your website, it is required that Humix seller entries are present on your website’s ads.txt file. This article will walk you through setting up your ads.txt file with Humix, as well as how to add Humix entries to your existing file.

Steps

To add Humix ads.txt entries to your site, navigate to the Earn tab on your Humix dashboard. Make sure the correct site is selected in the dropdown at the top of your Humix dashboard and click Get Started:

You have the option to set up an ads.txt file through Humix, or you can add Humix entries directly to your existing ads.txt file if you already have one. While both options work, it is recommended that you use the Humix ads.txt setup method. This allows Humix to dynamically edit ads.txt entries if neccessary.

Automatic Setup

Step 1 & 2 - Click ‘Ads.txt Setup’ and then create your file and preview it. The entries in the preview will be added to your site when you complete the ads.txt setup.

Step 3 - Under the Edit Entries step, you can add any other entries needed for your ads.txt file, such as your AdSense entry or entries provided by another ad partner. If you do not have an AdSense account or other ad partners, you can leave this blank.

Step 4 - You will need to set up a redirect from your website’s ads.txt file to ads.txt manager, which will serve the file for you. Select one of the four options provided. If your site is on WordPress, we recommend using the WordPress plugin option.

Add Entries to Existing File

Step 1 - Click Add Entries to Existing File which will provide you a list of required Humix entries.

Step 2 - Once you have added the entries to your existing file, click Verify to have Humix crawl your updated file.

*Please note: If you add Humix entries to your existing file, there may be entries that need to be manually added or removed from the file in the future to ensure optimal revenue performance.*

Troubleshooting

In some instances, there may be issues with Humix verifying your ads.txt file. Here are a couple of reasons why this might happen:

Ads.txt file is cached - If your ads.txt file is cached, the new entries won't show up until the cache expires or is cleared. Clear the cache for your file (example.com/ads.txt) and then try verifying with Humix again.

Crawlers blocked by robots.txt - If your robots.txt file is set up to block crawlers, Humix won't be able to verify the updated entries. You can follow the steps here to update your robots.txt.

FAQs

How long does it typically take for Humix entries to start working after being added to the ads.txt file?

Once you add the entries to your file, they should be verified by Humix immediately. Google and other demand partners usually crawl ads.txt files every 24 hours to confirm their entries are present.

Will adding Humix entries to my ads.txt file affect my existing ad setup or performance?

No, adding Humix entries will not affect your existing ad setup as long as your current ads.txt entries remain on the file.

Is adding Humix entries to my ads.txt file required or optional?

Adding Humix entries to your ads.txt file is required if you wish to earn revenue from the Humix video player.

How often should I update my Humix ads.txt entries?

If you use the automatic setup option, you will not need to manually update your Humix ads.txt entries. Humix will automatically manage the entries for you. If you choose to copy and paste entries into your existing ads.txt file, any changes will be provided via notifications in your Humix dashboard.

What happens if I remove the Humix entries from my ads.txt file after adding them?

If Humix entries are removed from your ads.txt file, demand partners will not be able to verify they are bidding on the correct site, which will result in decreased revenue.

Can I add the Humix ads.txt entries to a subdomain like subdomain.example.com/ads.txt?

Ads.txt files need to be hosted on the root domain (example.com/ads.txt). Adding these entries to a subdomain will prevent demand partners from verifying your site or bidding on its inventory.
