Introduction

Ezoic uses advanced artificial intelligence to assess your website's unique layout and individual user engagement patterns. Rather than relying on a "one-size-fits-all" ad setup, the AI identifies the best additional ad locations on a per-page and per-user basis. This technology ensures that ads are only placed where they are most likely to be effective, preventing layout clutter while maximizing the value of every session.

How AI Ad Optimization Works

The AI system monitors thousands of variables, including screen size, scroll depth, and historical engagement data. Using this information, it determines the optimal density and placement of advertisements for that specific visit.

  • Contextual Awareness: The AI understands your site's structure—identifying headers, paragraphs, and images—to ensure ads do not interfere with your core content.

  • User-Centric Delivery: If a user is highly sensitive to ads, the AI will automatically reduce the number of additional locations to protect engagement.

  • Premium Demand Compatibility: By identifying these "perfect" locations, Ezoic creates more attractive inventory for premium demand partners like The Trade Desk, who prioritize high-viewability placements.

Managing AI Ad Optimization

Ezoic provides publishers with full control over how much automation is applied to their site. While the AI is designed to maximize your site's potential, you can adjust or disable these features at any time.

How to Disable AI Ad Optimization:

  1. Navigate to EzoicAds > Ad Positions.

  2. Locate the AI Ad Optimization section and toggle the setting to Off.

Blocking Ads in Specific Locations (CSS Selectors)

If you find that the AI (or any automated placement) is inserting ads into areas you want to keep clean—such as a specific "Meet the Team" widget, a call-to-action box, or a navigation menu—you can "blacklist" these containers using Exclusion Filters.

  1. Navigate to EzoicAds > Ad Configuration.

  2. Scroll down to Exclusion Filters.

  3. Identify the CSS Selector (the ID or Class) of the element you want to block.

    • Example: To block ads from showing inside a sidebar with the class "sidebar-main", you would enter .sidebar-main.

  4. Add the selector to the filter list and click Save. Ezoic's AI will now treat that specific container as "off-limits" for all ad types.

FAQs

Will the AI break my site's layout?

No. The AI respects your site's CSS. If it detects that a potential ad location would overlap with a menu or break a container, it will skip that location entirely.

Does this replace my manual placeholders?

No. AI Ad Optimization works alongside your manual setup. It looks for "missed opportunities" that your manual placeholders might not cover, especially on long-form content.

Can I stop ads on specific pages?

Yes. If you want to disable ads on an entire page (like a "Contact Us" or "Terms" page) rather than just a specific section, use the Ad Restrictions > Disable Ads by Page tool instead.
