Introduction

To maintain a high-quality ecosystem for publishers and advertisers, every site must undergo a review process. This guide outlines the essential requirements for Ezoic monetization, covering ad setup, legal policies, branding, and content quality to ensure your site is approved and optimized for success.

Overview

Technical Integration and Compliance

To facilitate a successful onboarding, your site must meet specific technical standards.

  • JavaScript Integration: Connection via JavaScript is the primary and recommended method. For WordPress users, the Ezoic WordPress Plugin can automate ad code insertion and simplify the setup.

  • Google Ad Manager: All publishers must apply for and receive approval from Google MCM (Multiple Customer Management) to access premium ad inventory.

  • Ads.txt Authorization: Your ads.txt file must be correctly configured to include Ezoic’s reseller information, authorizing Ezoic to represent your ad inventory to buyers.

  • Ad Code Management: You are required to remove all non-Ezoic ad codes from your website. Ezoic’s AI optimization requires exclusive control over the ad environment to accurately test layouts and maximize revenue.

Policies & Legal Requirements

Compliance with international privacy regulations and Google Publisher Policies is mandatory.

  • Comprehensive Privacy Policy: A clear, industry-standard privacy policy must be accessible from every page of your website. It must transparently disclose how user data is collected, utilized, and shared.

    • Action: You must link your Privacy Policy within the Privacy section of your Ezoic dashboard.

  • Ezoic Privacy Disclosure: Publishers are required to include the Ezoic-specific snippet in the privacy policy. This will be added automatically, however you can copy the snippet found in the Privacy section of your Ezoic Dashboard to add if you would like to add it in yourself.

  • Consent Management: Utilize the Ezoic Consent Management Platform (CMP) to ensure compliance with GDPR and CCPA. To prevent technical conflicts, only one consent management tool should be active on the site.

  • Verified Contact Information: A dedicated contact page featuring a functional email address or contact form is required to establish site legitimacy.

Branding & Trust (E-E-A-T)

Ezoic and Google prioritize sites that demonstrate Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.

  • Descriptive "About Us" Page: Your menu must include a thorough "About" page that details the site's mission and the credentials of its contributors.

  • Author Transparency: Articles must feature clear author bylines. We recommend maintaining consistent biographies and high-quality headshots across your site and linked social media profiles.

  • Linguistic Consistency: To ensure a stable user experience, the website should be maintained in a single, consistent language.

Navigation & Site Structure

  • Intuitive Categorization: Menus must be organized logically. Use objective, clear labels (e.g., "Main Courses") rather than subjective or vague titles (e.g., "Good Stuff").

  • Category Depth: Article-based websites should maintain a minimum of 10 articles per category to demonstrate topical authority.

  • User Engagement Features: It is a requirement to include a sidebar widget containing an "About" summary and "Recommended Content" to improve site navigation and session duration.

Content Standards

  • Unique Value: All content must be original. Limit "near-duplicate" content (articles covering nearly identical topics) to no more than 5 pages per category to avoid search engine penalties.

  • Professional Formatting: Your homepage must serve as a clear entry point featuring curated content (e.g., Latest Posts or Editor's Picks). All articles must include substantial text, published dates, and proper grammatical proofing.

  • Media Integrity: All images and videos must be high-resolution, contextually relevant, and original. Repeated use of the same asset across multiple articles is prohibited.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Optimization Defaults: When configuring ad sizes and restrictions, utilize Ezoic’s default settings. Providing the AI with a wider range of variables leads to more effective revenue testing.

  • Revenue Enhancements: Enable Rewarded Ads and Ezoic Identity to unlock higher-value ad targeting and improved CPMs.

  • Fact-Checking & Consistency: Ensure that all information—especially instructional content like DIY steps or recipes—is factually accurate and consistent throughout the article.

FAQs

What’s the difference between the Ezoic review and the Google MCM review? The Ezoic review evaluates your site against our internal quality and technical benchmarks. The Google MCM review is a mandatory external check required to access Google’s ad exchange. Both approvals are necessary to begin monetization.

My website was rejected—how do I re-apply? Navigate to your Ezoic dashboard to view the specific reason for rejection. Once you have remediated the issues—such as improving navigation or expanding content—you may submit the site for re-review via the dashboard.

How long does the review process take? The Ezoic internal review typically concludes within 10 days. The Google MCM review is an independent process that can take up to 18 days.
