Introduction

If you're concerned about seeing too many ads on your site, rest assured that Ezoic provides you with complete control over ad placements and frequency. This article will guide you through understanding why you might be seeing a high number of ads and how Ezoic's system works to optimize ad experiences for different users. We'll cover the role of Ezoic's AI in tailoring ad experiences, how you can configure the maximum number of ads per page, and the potential impact this may have on your revenue. By the end of this article, you'll have a clear understanding of how to manage ad settings to suit both your preferences and your visitors' experiences.

Overview

Ezoic's system is designed to ensure that the number of ads displayed on your site aligns with your preferences and Google's policies. You can control this through the Max Ads Per Page app found under EzoicAds > Ad Restrictions.

While you have the option to manually set limits, it is generally recommended to let the system automate this process. This automation ensures compliance with Google Policy, and optimizes user experience and revenue by testing thousands of ad combinations. So even though you may be seeing lots of ads, other users visiting your site may not be seeing the same thing.

This is because website visitors all prefer different experiences when browsing a site. Different ad placements, layouts and the number of ads can have a major impact on user experience metrics and website revenue.

When publishers are seeing ads that they find intrusive or not aesthetic, other users may have a different opinion, but the beauty of the Ezoic system is that instead of picking a location that suits the majority, Ezoic can cater to both people who want an ad in that location and those who don't by leaving the placeholder in place.

Over time the system becomes wise to each user's preferences from the data collected and adapts ad combinations accordingly.

The reason that you as a web owner may be seeing more ads than most is that you most likely spend a long time on the site. Our system may subsequently categorize you as someone with a high ad tolerance, which means you will often be shown more ads, because your behavior on the site differs from the average user and indicates that you don't mind this!

As such, we recommend letting our system do its thing. But ultimately, you're in control, and you can always limit the number of ads displayed on a page.

Tips and Best Practices

1. Automate Ad Placement: Allow the Ezoic system to manage ad placements and the number of ads displayed. The system adheres to Google Policy and tests thousands of ad combinations to optimize user experience and revenue.

2. Use Ample Placeholders: Provide the system with 10-15 ad placeholders per page to ensure it has enough options to test and find the best ad combinations for different users.

3. Monitor High Ad Tolerance: Be aware that if you spend a lot of time on your site, the system may categorize you as having a high ad tolerance, resulting in you seeing more ads than the average user.

4. Limit Ads If Necessary: Although automation is recommended, you can control the maximum number of ads displayed per page using the 'Max Ads Per Page' App if you find it necessary to limit ad appearances.

5. Exclude Ads From Specific Pages: If there's a need to completely exclude ads from certain pages, use the 'Page Rules' App found under EzoicAds > Ad Restrictions.

6. Consult Before Making Changes: Any adjustments to your ad setup can impact your revenue. Consult with your dedicated account representative before implementing significant changes.
