Introduction

Changing your name servers is a crucial step in managing your domain and ensuring it points to the correct servers for optimal performance and functionality. If you're using NameCheap as your domain registrar and need to update your name servers to those provided by Ezoic, this guide will walk you through the process.

In this article, we will provide simple, step-by-step instructions on how to change your name servers within your NameCheap account, ensuring a smooth transition. By following these steps, you'll be able to update your settings efficiently and minimize any potential downtime for your website.

Steps

1. Before you do anything else, please check that Ezoic's copy of your site's DNS records matches those at your host as per the instructions here.

2. Sign into your NameCheap account. You can find the sign-in option at the top left of the page.

3. Select Domain List from the left sidebar and click the Manage button next to your domain.

4. Find the Nameservers section and select 'Custom DNS' from the drop-down menu.

5. Enter the custom name servers provided in your Ezoic Dashboard. You can find these under Settings > Connection > Nameservers > View Instructions.

Please note that name server changes do not propagate instantly. Once your nameservers are changed, it may take up to 24 hours (more, in rare cases) for local ISPs to update their DNS caches so that everyone can see your website.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during the process of modifying your domain name's name servers, please consider the following common problems and their solutions:

  1. Name Server Changes Not Propagating:
    • Issue: After changing your name servers at NameCheap, it might seem like the changes are not taking effect.
    • Solution: Keep in mind that it can take up to 24 hours for the integration to fully propagate. If it has been over 24 hours, double-check that you have entered the Ezoic name servers correctly. Ensure there are no typos or extra spaces. You can also use online DNS propagation check tools to see if the changes are being reflected globally.
  2. Site Not Working After Integration
    • Issue: Your site is down or not functioning correctly after completing the name server changes.
    • Solution: If the error is consistent, verify that the name servers are correctly entered and that Ezoic's copy of your site's DNS record matches those at NameCheap. If the error is intermittent, consider the solutions listed here.
