How can I disable ads on a page?

Last Updated a month ago

Introduction

Welcome to our step-by-step guide on how to disable ads on a specific page using the Ezoic platform. Whether you need to exclude ads from your homepage, a particular subdomain, or based on specific criteria like cookies or meta tags, this article will walk you through the entire process. We'll cover various rule types and how to implement them through your Ezoic dashboard, ensuring you have the flexibility to manage your ad placements effectively. By following these instructions, you'll have greater control over where ads appear on your site, enhancing both user experience and page functionality. Let's get started!

Steps

  1. From your Ezoic dashboard, go to 'Ezoic Ads' > 'Ad Restrictions' > 'Page Rules'.

  2. Click the "+" (plus) icon.
  3. Using the drop-down menu, select a URL, Cookie, Meta Tag, Subdomain, or Query Parameter where you would like ads not to show.

  4. Select the page rule option you would like to create. For example, if you want to exclude ads from your homepage, select URL.
  5. Select the rule type from the drop-down; a page rule only applies to that specific page, while a directory rule will apply to all pages within the designated directory.

  6. Add the URL path after the domain name – that's everything after and including the first '/' in the URL. For example, to disable ads from the homepage, simply enter a backslash: '/'. Or if you want no ads on your Contact Us page, you would enter: '/contact-us/'
  7. Click 'Create Rule' and you're done!

Alternative Rule Types

  • To exclude by Cookie, select the option from the drop-down menu, and then enter the name and value of the cookie you want to disable ads for.
  • To exclude by Meta Tag, select the option from the drop-down menu, and then enter the name and content of the meta tag you want to disable ads for.
  • To exclude by Subdomain, select the option from the drop-down menu, and then enter the name of the subdomain you want to disable ads for.
  • To exclude by Query Parameter, select the option from the drop-down menu, and then enter the query parameter and the query value you want to disable ads for.

Troubleshooting

  1. Ads still showing on designated URL
    • Solution: The rule can take some time to implement, so the page may not update right away. If it's been longer than 10 minutes or so without any changes to the page, try clearing your browser cache to make sure you're seeing the most up-to-date version of the designated page. Make sure you selected URL and not Directory in the rule set, and ensure the URL path was entered correctly.
  2. Rule won't save or other issue with dashboard
    • Solution: Try logging out of your Ezoic account, clearing your browser cache and cookies, then logging back in. If you are still unable to save the rule, take note of any error message you might be receiving and reach out to the Ezoic support team with the details.
