How to Generate a Humix Embed Code

Modified on: Tue, 12 Sep, 2023

This guide will help you use the embed functionality to generate embed codes for videos, playlists, and third-party network videos. The embed process will work for any CMS as well.

Getting Started

*Note: If you’re a WordPress user, we highly recommend downloading and installing the Humix WordPress plugin. See here for a Humix plugin guide.

When you visit your Humix dashboard, you can click on the Embed Video button within Quick Actions:

Now you will be able to select the video source of your choice to continue with the embed process. Your options include:

  1. Automatically Select A Video: This enables Humix to match a video from the network to your page content. Videos are selected based on content relevancy and engagement metrics.
  2. My Video: This will prompt you to generate an embed code for one of your own videos.
  3. My Playlists: This will allow you to generate an embed code for a selected playlist.
  4. Humix.com Video: If there’s a certain video from the Humix network you’d like to serve on your site, this option will help you generate an embed code for that video. You can browse and search for network videos on Humix.com.

Let’s dive into each option in more detail.

Automatically Select A Video

Once you select this option, you will be asked how you want Humix to determine those video matches:

Match My Content:
Choosing this option gives Humix permission to survey your written content, on-page SEO, and meta descriptions to provide a relevant and engaging video that best matches your topic.

Select Content Category:
Choosing this option allows you to specify which video categories that Humix can serve from. This will limit Humix’s ability to provide matches based on page level data, so we recommend only choosing categories that you’re confident are relevant to your website’s content.

Option 1: Match My Content

After selecting Match My Content, you’ll be taken here where you will be asked how you want to embed the code onto your site. If your site is on WordPress, you can leverage the WordPress plugin embed codes to insert your videos. Click on the blue ‘Yes’* button. If you haven’t already downloaded and installed the Humix WordPress Plugin, you’ll need to install and activate it before using the embed code.

If you’re a WordPress user with an active Humix plugin, you can select ‘WordPress Short Code’ and copy the embed code below.

Option 2: Select Content Category

You can also choose the Select Content Category option, which allows you to select the categories Humix is allowed to serve videos in. Click directly into the search bar and a full dropdown menu will appear with various category options for you to choose from:

You can select up to 3 categories. Once you are satisfied with your category selections, click on the ‘Next’ button to receive the generated embed code. If you’re on WordPress and want to leverage the plugin to implement the video you can do so. Otherwise, you can ‘Copy’ the code and input that embed code into your own CMS editor. You can click on ‘Done’ after either option.

Embedding ‘My Video’

If you have uploaded videos to your Humix studio, you can easily generate an embed code to implement on your site. Select one of your uploaded videos, and click next.

You will then be able to copy the generated embed code for this video. If your CMS is WordPress and you’ve activated the Humix plugin, you’ll have the option to copy and paste an alternative short code. You’ll also have the option to adjust various settings under the drop down, ‘Customize Embed Code’

Embedding ‘My Playlists’

If you have already created playlists within Humix, you can generate an embed code to implement a playlist on your site. All of your existing playlists within your Humix Studio Library will populate, or you can manually search for a playlist. Go ahead and select the playlist and click ‘Next’:

If you’re on WordPress, you will be able to insert your playlists via the plugin. Otherwise, you can copy and paste the embed code into your editor like normal. You will have the option to Customize Embed Code for playlists as well.

Humix.com Video

Lastly, you can choose a video from within the network to show on your website. If you have already browsed the Humix.com network previously, copy and paste the video URL of your choice directly into this section. You can use the video’s landing page URL, or you can use the URL within the video share option.

If you still need to select a video, you can click on ‘Go To Humix.com’ from here:
