This guide will run through how to manage and edit your videos, shorts and playlists with Open.Video.

To manage videos in Open.Video firstly click ‘Manage Videos’ from the dashboard homepage. 

From here you can see lists of all your video uploads, your short-form videos, playlists and livestreams. You can also sort each list in a number of ways. 

You can also see the visibility status, restrictions applied, upload date and number of views for each video. 

Managing Videos and Shorts 

In order to manage individual videos or shorts click the menu icon on the right hand side of the page. This allows you to edit the video, view analytics, copy the video embed code, copy the video URL and delete the video. 

Edit: 

The edit option allows you to change the video title, description, category, visibility and thumbnail. For the thumbnail option, you can choose from a pre-selected thumbnail recommendation or upload your own image. 

You must click save after making changes so that the new settings are applied. 

Analytics: 

The analytics section allows you to track the number of views the specific video has gained over the last seven or thirty days, the location of your viewers, audience retention (the percentage of viewers who watched the entire video) and viewers by country. 

You can also track total views from the top of this page. 

Copy Embed Code: 

The copy embed code option allows you to copy/paste the video player HTML, in order to be added directly to your site. 

Copy Video URL: 

The copy video URL option allows you to copy the Open.Video URL where your video is hosted. You can then share this URL with your viewers directly in newsletters or via socials. 

Delete: 

The delete option will permanently remove the video from Open.Video and cannot be undone. If you are unsure about whether you want to remove a video, you can click edit and set the video to private instead. 

Playlists

From the playlists tab you can either create or manage your current set of playlists. 

To create a playlist, click ‘New Playlist’. You’ll then be required to give the playlist a name and can choose how the playlist is sorted. 

Once you’ve done that click back into the playlist, where you can then choose which videos to add to the playlist. 

You can add as many videos as you like to the playlist, and once you’re happy with your selection hit save. 

By clicking on the menu options on the right hand side you can also edit the playlist, copy the playlist embed code, or delete the playlist. 

Changes made in the video editor aren’t saving:
After making any edits to the video’s title, description, category, visibility, or thumbnail, you must click the "Save" button to apply the changes. If you navigate away before saving, your updates will be lost. Refresh the page and try again if the changes don’t appear immediately.

Can’t find a deleted video:
Once a video is deleted, it is permanently removed from Open.Video and cannot be recovered. If you're unsure about removing a video, consider setting its visibility to private instead. Private videos remain accessible in your library but are hidden from viewers.

Embed code not functioning on site:
If your copied embed code does not render the video properly on your site, verify that it was pasted into an HTML-compatible field. Some content management systems may require you to use a "code" or "HTML" block.

Can I edit a video after it’s published?
Yes. You can edit the title, description, category, visibility, and thumbnail of any video or short at any time. Simply click the menu icon next to the video and select "Edit".

What analytics are available for my videos?
Open.Video provides video-level analytics, including total views, views over the last 7 or 30 days, viewer locations, audience retention rates, and country-level breakdowns.

Can I embed a video on my own website?
Yes. Each video includes a "Copy Embed Code" option that generates an embeddable HTML snippet. Paste this code into your site’s HTML editor to display the video.

What happens when I delete a video?
Deleting a video permanently removes it from your Open.Video account and it cannot be restored. If you wish to hide a video temporarily, consider changing its visibility to private instead.

How do I create and manage playlists?
Click on the "Playlists" tab and select "New Playlist" to begin. After naming your playlist and choosing a sort order, you can add videos. You can edit existing playlists at any time, add or remove videos, copy the embed code, or delete the playlist entirely.

Can I reorder videos in a playlist?
Yes. When managing a playlist, you can adjust the sort order either manually or by setting it to a specific sort method (e.g., most recent, alphabetical) during creation or edit.
