What is a Sticky Sidebar ad? How can I add a Sticky Sidebar ad to my site?

Modified on: Sat, 16 Jan, 2021

A sticky ad is one that remains in the same relative position as your users scroll down your page. So it's a particularly good format for pages that are long and users need to scroll down to read all the content.  As the visitor will tend to stay on the page for longer than on a short content page, the sticky sidebar ads will also refresh every 30 seconds or so!

Here's an example of a sticky sidebar ad on a site:

See how it moves down as you scroll down the page?  That's the 'sticky' bit!

To enable this type of ad on your site, simply go to your Chrome Extension and ad a sticky sidebar placeholder (note - they are called Sidebar Floating in the extension)

1.  Cick on 'Create'

2. Click 'Select Location' and highlight the area in the sidebar where you want the sticky sidebar placeholder to be (here is some more information on how to use the Chrome Extension to create placeholders)

3.  Choose 'Sidebar Floating', select the sizes and stying you want and click 'Save Placeholder' - you will see a warning to ensure you have no content or other placeholders in the sidebar below this placeholder - make sure that is the case before saving!

4. Then go to your Ezoic dashboard and click on the Monetization tab, click on turn ON/OFF settings in Ad Tester and ensure Sticky Sidebar Ads is toggled to ON - then click SAVE!
