Introduction

Welcome to this step-by-step guide on how to change your name servers at SiteSell. While the process may take a bit longer than usual, it remains straightforward and manageable. In this article, you will learn how to log in to manage your domain, enter custom name servers provided by Ezoic, and unlock your domain if necessary. By following these instructions, you can ensure a smooth transition and benefit from Ezoic's optimization while continuing to use SiteSell's robust platform. Let's get started!

Steps

1. Before you do anything else, please check that Ezoic's copy of your site's DNS records matches those at your host as per the instructions here.

2. The next step is to login to manage your domain. You can login here: http://build.sitesell.com/manage.html. Note that your Username and Password to manage your domain are different from the rest of SiteSell. You can find the details in your SBI! Mail email that you received when you signed up, specifically in the P.P.S. section.

3. Click on the name servers link in the menu as shown here:

4. Enter the custom name servers provided in your Ezoic Dashboard. You can find these under Settings > Connection > Nameservers > View Instructions.

5. Email SiteSell Support. Visit the contact support page at: http://support.sitesell.com/contact-support.html. In your message, ask them to "unlock the domain: yourdomain.com" (replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain). Additionally, include the last 7 digits of the credit card you use for SiteSell and your IP address, which you can find here: http://www.sitesell.com/cgi-bin/proxycheck.pl. Your complete request should look like this (replace with your own information):

6. "Hello, please unlock my domain mydomain.com.
The last 7 digits of my credit card are: 1234567
My IP Address is: 43.23.32.12"

7. Wait for a response from SiteSell. They should get back to you within a day, stating that they have unlocked the domain or requesting more information. If more information is needed, provide it, and they should unlock the domain. PLEASE NOTE that they will state that the SiteSell functionality will not work if you change your name servers -- this is not true -- everything will continue to work once you switch to Ezoic AND you'll get the benefit of Ezoic's optimization and SiteSell's great building platform.

8. Once the domain is unlocked, go back to step 1 and try entering the custom name servers generated for you by Ezoic again.

9. Allow up to 48 hours for all changes to take full effect.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during the process of modifying your domain name's name servers, please consider the following common problems and their solutions:

  1. Name Server Changes Not Propagating:
    • Issue: After changing your name servers at SiteSell, it might seem like the changes are not taking effect.
    • Solution: Keep in mind that it can take up to 24 hours for the integration to fully propagate. If it has been over 24 hours, double-check that you have entered the Ezoic name servers correctly. Ensure there are no typos or extra spaces. You can also use online DNS propagation check tools to see if the changes are being reflected globally.
  2. Site Not Working After Integration
    • Issue: Your site is down or not functioning correctly after completing the name server changes.
    • Solution: If the error is consistent, verify that the name servers are correctly entered and that Ezoic's copy of your site's DNS record matches those at SiteSell. If the error is intermittent, consider the solutions listed here.
