Managing Videos with Open.Video

This guide explains how to manage and edit your videos, shorts, playlists, and new short-form features with Open.Video. It covers standard video management plus recently added functionality: a full-screen Vertical Reels Player for embedding short-form, vertical videos on your site, and clickable Product Stickers that can be placed on videos as overlay links for affiliate or product pages.

1. From the Open.Video dashboard, click "Manage Videos" to see lists of all your uploads, short-form videos, playlists, and livestreams. You can sort each list and view metadata such as visibility, restrictions, upload date, and views.

2. To manage an individual video or short, click the menu icon next to the item. Typical options include editing the video, viewing analytics, copying embed code, copying the video URL, and deleting the video.

3. Editing a video lets you change the title, description, category, visibility, and thumbnail. For thumbnails you can choose a recommended frame or upload your own. Remember to click Save after making changes so the new settings are applied.

4. Embedding short-form videos on your site: use the "Copy Embed Code" option to get an embeddable HTML snippet. For short-form content, Open.Video now provides an embed suitable for a full-screen Vertical Reels Player that is optimized for mobile and vertical layouts. Copy the embed code and paste it into an HTML-compatible area on your site to add the vertical player.

5. Product Stickers (clickable overlays): you can add Product Stickers to short-form videos via the video editor to create clickable overlays that link to affiliate or product pages. After adding stickers, save your changes. When you embed a video or share the Open.Video URL, supported embeds will display these clickable overlays.

6. Playlists: open the Playlists tab to create or manage playlists. Click "New Playlist," give it a name, choose a sort order, then add videos and click Save. From the playlist menu you can edit the playlist, copy its embed code, or delete it.

Changes made in the video editor aren’t saving:
After making any edits to a video’s title, description, category, visibility, thumbnail, or Product Stickers, you must click the "Save" button to apply the changes. If you navigate away before saving, your updates will be lost. Refresh the page and try again if the changes don’t appear immediately.

Can’t find a deleted video:
Once a video is deleted, it is permanently removed from Open.Video and cannot be recovered. If you’re unsure about removing a video, consider setting its visibility to private instead. Private videos remain accessible in your library but are hidden from viewers.

Embed code not functioning on site:
If embed code does not render properly on your site, verify that you pasted it into an HTML-compatible field or a code/HTML block in your CMS. This applies to both standard player embeds and the new Vertical Reels Player embed.

Product Stickers or vertical overlay not appearing:
If Product Stickers or the vertical overlay do not appear after embedding, copy the embed code again from Open.Video and replace the previously pasted code. Ensure the embed area supports overlays and that you are using the most recent embed snippet. If the stickers still do not appear on your site but do appear on Open.Video, reach out to support for assistance.

Can I edit a video after it’s published?
Yes. You can edit the title, description, category, visibility, thumbnail, and add Product Stickers to any video or short at any time. Click the menu icon next to the video and select Edit.

What analytics are available for my videos?
Open.Video provides video-level analytics, including total views, views over the last 7 or 30 days, viewer locations, audience retention rates, and country-level breakdowns.

Can I embed a video on my own website?
Yes. Each video includes a "Copy Embed Code" option that generates an embeddable HTML snippet. Paste this code into your site’s HTML editor to display the video. For short-form content, you can use the Vertical Reels Player embed to provide a full-screen, vertical experience.

What are Product Stickers?
Product Stickers are clickable overlays you can add to short-form videos. They let you link viewers to affiliate or product pages directly from the video. Add stickers in the video editor and save your changes; supported embeds and the Open.Video-hosted page will display the overlays.

What happens when I delete a video?
Deleting a video permanently removes it from your Open.Video account and it cannot be restored. If you wish to hide a video temporarily, consider changing its visibility to private instead.

How do I create and manage playlists?
Click on the "Playlists" tab and select "New Playlist" to begin. After naming your playlist and choosing a sort order, you can add videos. You can edit existing playlists at any time, add or remove videos, copy the embed code, or delete the playlist entirely.

Can I reorder videos in a playlist?
Yes. When managing a playlist, you can adjust the sort order either manually or by setting it to a specific sort method during creation or edit.
