Frequently asked questions for Leap

I am not using WordPress, can I still use Leap?

Yes, Leap works on every kind of website (WordPress, Joomla, Custom PHP, etc.)

I haven't integrated yet, how can I use Leap?

Sites must be integrated before it will work and display faster scores. We do recommend name server or Cloudflare integration.

My site's layout seems different after I activated Leap. How can I resolve this?

If you experience functionality loss or display/layout errors, please try turning OFF script delay to see if that helps the immediate issue. If it does, you'll want to exclude the relevant scripts from being delayed - more info here.

Why can't I see a score for my core vitals in Leap?

There are 2 main reasons for this, the first is that there is not enough data to provide a full field data score for your site so we have to revert to lab data - You can find more information about Lab vs Field data here.

The Second reason for no field score is because the Canonical URL we have in our system for your site is incorrect. The canonical URL is the URL our system uses to pull the data from Google's CRUX. If you see field data in page speed insights but not in Leap then the Canonical URL we have is incorrect and there will not be any data to show a score. If this is the case you will need to open a support ticket and a member of our team will be happy to correct this for you.

Measuring Site Speed - Tools & Metrics

One of the questions we're often asked is whether GTMetrix or Google PageSpeed Insights is the better tool for measuring site speed.

GTMetrix isn't the most reliable measure of site speed as they don't take into account Ezoic's lazy loading. Here at Ezoic, we have found that serving ads as quickly as possible was actually not effective from a user experience or revenue aspect.

Instead, we've found that it's better to stagger the loading of a page to ensure that the user receives the content first (i.e. the aspect of the page they came to the site for) - this way, the visitor can begin interacting with the page immediately, whilst other elements of the page (i.e. ads, click/like buttons) load in the background. This is what we
call
"Lazy Loading" or "Asynchronous Loading". This is probably why you don't see your ads propagate immediately on your site.

Getting Started With Leap (Integration)

There are 3 integration methods that can be used to access Leap:

  1. Name server integration
  2. WordPress Integration
  3. **Cloudflare integration (**only for sites that are currently using Cloudflare)

Name server or Cloudflare integration options are recommended for almost all sites.

All sites should be prompted to integrate upon signing up to use Leap.

NOTE: If you've completed Name Server integration, it can take up to 18 hours for DNS records to propagate so that sites can leverage Leap.

There's no way to make this happen faster; however, you can finish configuring the tool and Ezoic will notify you via email once Name Servers are propagated and integration is fully-complete

Note: Wordpress integration provides is slightly slower (approx. 25%), this will affect core vitals and visitor experience due to the nature of the CMS. Name server / Cloudflare integration offers faster speed. Sites that are WordPress integrated cannot use Ezoic's caching, which is a major factor for LCP.
