Introduction

Welcome to our guide on using the Excluded Pages App. This article is designed to provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to exclude specific URLs and directories from testing with Ezoic's suite of apps, including EzoicAds and Leap. You'll learn how to easily navigate the Excluded Pages app, found under the settings tab in your Ezoic Dashboard, and set up exclusion rules for both individual URLs and meta tags. Whether you need to exclude pages to comply with policies or simply to streamline your testing process, this guide will walk you through each step to ensure you can effectively manage your site's content.

Keep in mind that this is specifically for excluding pages entirely from Ezoic. If you want to leave other Ezoic functions running on a page (such as Leap) but just don't want any ads, you can instead use the Disable Ads by Page tool.

Steps

First, to get to the Excluded Pages app, log in to your Ezoic dashboard. Then, navigate to Settings > Content > Excluded Pages.

  1. Click on "Settings" in the Excluded Pages app.

  2. To exclude a single URL from testing, click '+ Add Excluded URL' in the main app interface.

  3. Enter the URL of the page you'd like to exclude. You only need to add the URL path after the root domain name. For example, if you want to exclude Ezoic apps from running on https://www.joebloggs.com/examplepage1, just enter /examplepage1/ in the box. Remember to include a slash '/' at the end of the URL path.

  4. Click 'Add Excluded page' to save the rule.

  5. To exclude directories, select 'Directory' from the Rule Target drop-down menu.

  6. If needed, you can also exclude by URL regex from the same drop-down menu.

  7. To create an exclusion rule for certain meta tags, simply click the "Meta Tag Rules" tab in the main interface, fill in the details, then make sure to save your changes by clicking "Add Excluded Meta Tag."

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues while using the Excluded Pages app, here are some common problems and their solutions:

  1. Problem: Unable to find the Excluded Pages app
    • Solution: Ensure you are looking under the "Settings" tab and then "Content" in your Ezoic Dashboard. The Excluded Pages app should be listed there.
  2. Problem: Error when adding a URL
    • Solution: Double-check that you are entering the URL path correctly. You only need to add the URL path after the root domain name (e.g., for https://www.joebloggs.com/examplepage1, enter /examplepage1/). Remember to include a slash '/' at the end of the URL path.
  3. Problem: Exclusion rule not working for directories
    • Solution: Ensure you have selected "Directory" from the Rule Target drop-down menu when you are setting up the exclusion rule. If the rule is still not working, verify that the directory path is correctly entered.
  4. Problem: Regex exclusion not functioning
    • Solution: Make sure you have selected URL regex from the Rule Target drop-down menu. Verify that your regex expression is correctly formatted and matches the URLs you intend to exclude.
