Overview

The overview tab will give you a basic summary of how your site is performing and recommendations for ways to improve your site's performance.

The Leaderboard shows the top sites based on site speed performance and where your site ranks compared to all the other sites (if you do not see your site ranking, you can join the Leaderboard by clicking the "Join the Leaderboard" button at the top right corner of the Leap page).

There is also the option to open a Leap support ticket, which will allow you to get support on any queries related to issues with Leap.

For a more detailed look at the leaderboard, you can go to the Leaderboard tab. Here you will be able to see all the sites using leap in the order of their ranking.

You can also see more details about the fastest sites' host, CMS, CDN, and Ezoic integration method as well as the option to check out what Ezoic features and technologies they are using and the Leap settings they have configured.

The option to “Try out their settings” lets you test the Leap settings they have configured on your own site to see if they can improve your own performance. This is a great feature that allows the community to drive up the performance of sites on Ezoic.

Core vitals

As you may be aware Google uses core web vitals to grade the user experience of websites. The 'My Scores' tab allows you to keep track of your core vitals and look at ways to improve the individual aspects of your site’s performance.

You can track each one of the 3 core vital metrics here and you can see an overview of the last 30 days for both on mobile and desktop. The timeline can help you troubleshoot any changes you have made to your site or Leap settings during this time period.

If anything about these vitals is unclear there is the “What does this mean” button which will explain each vital in more detail as well as how this affects your site and what you should strive for to give your users the best experience.

This feature is also linked to our Big Data Analytics and you can easily access the report via the “View Analytics Report” button.

Optimization settings

When you first visit the 'Optimize' tab in Leap you will be shown the 'Getting Started' page.

From here, you can configure your settings > preview the settings > activate the settings.

Configure

After you click the 'Get Started' button, you will be redirected to the configuration page. Our system will apply a default configuration that may well be the best option for your site but this can always be optimized if you choose to do so.

The optimization categories each have advanced settings that will allow you to tweak and optimize each of the categories to what works best with your site. If you toggle the main category off then all the advanced settings will be deactivated too.

Make sure to preview the optimization settings before going live! The preview page will have a short checklist that you should use as a reference to ensure the settings you have configured are working correctly and there are no conflicts with your site.

Activate

Once you have a configuration that works and is fully optimized you can then activate your Leap settings on your preferred platform by clicking the “Activate” button. These settings will then go live on your site for your users to experience the optimized version for themselves.

Technologies

The technologies tab is a very useful tool that allows you to see what technologies are present on your site and how they affect your site speed and core web vitals.

The list will display the name, pricing (if applicable), category, and rating for each of the technologies in use on your site.

The rating column is the most useful for improving your site speed, it will highlight technologies into one of 3 categories:

Not recommended - This means the technology is either very slow or it may cause issues/conflict with Ezoic. These technologies should be the first ones you look to improve.

Needs Improvement - Although these technologies are compatible with Ezoic, they are not necessarily the fastest solution available, and you should consider whether their importance to the site outweighs the negative impact they are having on your site's speed.

Fast - These technologies are not negatively impacting your site's performance and there is no need to take any action.

As well as highlighting the technologies that need to be investigated this tool will allow you to view alternative solutions which will be ranked using the same system.

The best practice is to go with the fast-ranked technologies but in some cases, you may only see a Needs Improvement alternative and in that case, it is best to go with the technology that has the best results for the highest % of domains. This information will be given below the rating.

Ezoic Lab

The Ezoic Lab is used to check different pages on your site to troubleshoot why they might be slow.

image

You will need to copy and paste the URL into the tester making sure to include either the http:// or https:// prefix and the tester will run some checks on the page and give the performance results with information on how to improve the performance similar to Google Lighthouse.

Here you can drill down into what is slowing your site down or giving you bad core vitals scores for this particular page. This is useful if you notice certain pages have a particularly high bounce rate or there are pages where users tend to exit your site without good reason.

You can get more insight into each performance metric and how to improve them by clicking the arrow on the right-hand side.

In this example, the scores are based on lab data because there is not enough field data to give an accurate evaluation. Lab data is not always a good representation of how users will experience your site and in any case, it is best to use field data where possible as this is based on a 28-day rolling average.
