Introduction

Whether you are performing site maintenance or pausing testing, Ezoic provides several ways to manage your integration. "Turning off" Ezoic can mean two different things: either physically removing the Ezoic code from your site or pausing the traffic via dashboard toggles. The method you choose depends entirely on your specific Integration Type.

Steps

1. For JavaScript Integrated Sites (Manual)

To turn off Ezoic on a site where you manually added code, the dashboard toggles will not remove the scripts from your site. You must manually:

  1. Remove the Ezoic Header Script from the <head> of your HTML.

  2. Remove both Header Consent Scripts .

  3. Remove any individual Ad Placeholder Codes from your page body.

2. For WordPress Plugin Users

If you integrated using the Ezoic WordPress Plugin:

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins.

  3. Locate the Ezoic Plugin and click Deactivate.

  4. Once deactivated, Ezoic can no longer inject ads or optimize the site.

3. For Cloud Integrated Sites (Secondary)

If your site is integrated via Name Servers or Cloudflare, you can control traffic distribution via the dashboard:

  1. Navigate to EzoicAds > Optimization Goals.

  2. Under Turn Ezoic On, use the toggles for Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile.

  3. Set the toggle to OFF to revert traffic to your original site layout.

  4. To fully remove Ezoic code in a Cloud setup, you must:

    • Name Server: Point your Name Servers at your registrar back to your host.

    • Cloudflare: Go to Settings > Integration > Cloudflare and select Remove Cloudflare.

Troubleshooting

Ads Still Appearing After Disabling

  • Caching: This is the most common cause. Even after removing code or toggling Ezoic off, your browser or a CDN (like Ezoic's Caching or Cloudflare) may still be serving the "Ezoic version" of the page. Clear all caches and check in an Incognito window.

  • Leftover Code: For Manual JS users, ensure all instances of Ezoic code have been removed. A single forgotten script in the header or footer can still trigger Ezoic functions.

Dashboard Toggles Not Visible

  • Integration Type: If you are not Cloud Integrated, the "Turn Ezoic On/Off" options may be hidden, as the system does not have DNS-level control to divert your traffic.

  • Premium Agreements: Publishers on an annual Premium Agreement may have their traffic locked to 100% Ezoic as part of their contract.
