This article will provide detailed information on how to navigate to the Optimization Goals section of the Ezoic dashboard, the different optimization goals available - Balanced, Revenue Focused, User Experience Focused, and Custom - and how these settings can influence the AI testing process to meet your desired outcomes. What are the available Optimization Goals and how can I change them?

Ezoic offers the capability to set Optimization Goals for your website, influencing the results of the AI testing process. The AI tests different ad placements and sizes based on user engagement and historical advertiser data, but will also take into account your indicated preference. Depending on the selected Optimization Goals, the AI will adjust the number and size of ads.

To access the Optimization Settings, navigate to EzoicAds > Optimization Goals. Here, you can choose from various Optimization Goals:

  1. Balanced (default): This setting aims to provide a balance between revenue generation and user experience metrics, making it the recommended option for most users.
  2. Revenue Focused: This setting prioritizes revenue improvement, allocating a significant focus to revenue while still considering user experience metrics.
  3. User Experience Focused: This option promotes ad layouts that enhance user engagement, encouraging readers to spend more time on your site and view more content.
  4. Custom: Allows you to create a tailored set of metrics to achieve specific custom results.

These settings guide the AI in optimizing ad performance according to your specified goals, so it is crucial to choose the most appropriate setting based on your objectives.

Tips and Best Practices

  1. Understand Your Audience: Before choosing your Optimization Goals, consider who your primary audience is and what their priorities might be. If your readers truly value a cleaner reading experience, you might lean towards User Experience Focused settings. If your primary goal is to maximize revenue, the Revenue Focused setting might be more appropriate.
  2. Start with Balanced: We recommend starting with the Balanced setting. This option offers a good compromise between user experience and revenue generation, allowing you to gauge the impact on both metrics before making more targeted adjustments.
  3. Monitor and Adjust: Regularly check the performance of your ad placements. Use the data provided by Ezoic to see how different settings are performing and make adjustments as needed. The dynamic nature of AI testing means that regular tweaks can lead to optimal results.
  4. Custom Metrics: Take advantage of the Custom settings if you have specific goals that are not fully addressed by the default options. Tailor the metrics to your site's unique needs to guide the AI in achieving the desired outcomes.
  5. Prioritize Revenue during key periods: Even if you choose the User Experience Focused or Balanced settings, we recommend switching to Revenue Focused during the busy Black Friday & Christmas period. There may also be key periods of the year that are specific to your site - for example, a site dedicated to football transfer news and rumours likely receives a lot more traffic when the transfer window is open as opposed to when it is closed. Switching to Revenue Focused during this busy period allows you to take advantage of this added interest!
  6. Be Patient: Changes in settings and the resulting adjustments by the Ezoic AI might not show immediate results. Give the system some time to gather sufficient data and refine its approach based on your chosen goals.
  7. Stay Informed: Keep yourself updated with any changes or new features introduced by Ezoic. Regularly reviewing the latest updates can provide you with new strategies to implement and optimize your ad placements further.
